Tips To Pet Care While You Are On Your Vacation |
|
It is nearing holiday time, and what comes to your mind first? Spending your holiday to the fullest! Your preferred and most popular choice would be to travel along with your friends and family members. But what about your best friend: your “pet”? Sometimes when you take a trip, your pet needs to stay at home until you return.
This could be a big problem for those travelers who seek peace of mind while on vacation. Listed below are 5 easy steps that you need to follow to ensure that your pets are taken good care of while you are gone.
Step 1: Pick Your Option
A pet owner has a few options to choose from before leaving for vacation.
The first option would be to take your pet to a Pet Care Services Center. (For Eg:- A dog to a kennel). This would be a good option since your pet will be well looked after by the professionals. It would enable your pet interact with other animals and would include services such as grooming, spa treatment, potty walks, etc. However, this can be costly and your pet could be unhappy since it’s away from home in an unfamiliar environment.
To avoid the above problems, you could rather have someone care for your pet at the comfort of your home. Your pet might have a good relationship with your friends, relatives or neighbors. So try seeking their help.
>However, your neighbor might sometimes forget to stop by and feed your pet. Therefore, in order for a more reliable and professional approach, you could hire a “Pet Sitter”. This would be better since he/she would visit your house everyday to feed, walk, and take good care of your pet. Pet sitters are preferred by most pet owners since they have more pet-care experience than your friends and neighbors.
Be it an amateur or a professional, you need to follow the same steps to ensure that your pet receives the best possible treatment.
Step 2: Ask In Advance
If you need someone to look after your pet when you’re gone, it’s best to ask them in advance. Make clear plans about the dates you’ll be gone and talk to your neighbor, pet sitter, or pet care services center to check whether they could accommodate your pet. Improper planning can lead to a lot of problems like the pet sitters or pet care centers being fully occupied during the holiday season. So get their consent and make arrangements for pet care before you leave.
Step 3: Don’t Make Them Fetch
Once agreed, provide your pet sitter with all the necessary information with regard to the place where the food, toys and leashes are kept. Also make sure you leave the emergency contact numbers, in case a problem arises. Make it a point to keep the instructions as simple as possible so that your pet sitter is not overburdened.
Step 4: Bon Voyage
When you are back home, inform your pet sitter, thank them for the job well done and pay them right away. If the pet sitting job was done by a friend or a neighbor, get them a lovely gift and don’t forget to appreciate their favor.
Step 5: Reward your pet
Who else would be happier to see you back? It’s your pet. Get your pet something special (like a doggy-bone for dogs, or a fluffy-ball for your cat) and spend some quality time with it, so that it feels loved and unforgotten. |
