Hotel Room Booking Ideas |
|
Traveling has become the number one alternative to staying t home, during the periods of vacation. Choosing a travel destination would be your first job, but then you would have to decide on where you are going to lodge. Hotels are then what you are looking for. Hotels may be full and occupied, especially during the holidays, which require making hotel reservations early.
There are a few things you have to know before you book a room, especially if you are about to make hotel reservations for the first time. Most importantly, you should realize that the hotel can be one of the most expensive parts of your tour. So make sure you find the best deal in town so as to prevent unnecessary expenditure.
Finding the best deal can be a little time consuming. However, the saving can be enormous. First, you will have to spend some time researching so as to get a better understanding about the rates and charges. Once you study the published rates (also known as “rack rates”), which is the highest rate for a room, you should try to find those deals which cost less than that.
Once you have an idea of the rates, decide on what sort of hotel you want to stay in and at what type of site/ location. For Eg:- Budget, Mid-price, Luxury, 5-star, with respect to the type of hotel; and with respect to the location, whether it should be near the coast, attractions, city center, airport, or suburbs.
Once you decide on the above, start researching online travel agent sites to find prices for reservations. This would give a better idea on the hotel rates and charges. You could also visit other websites such as Hotwire and Quikbook to look for hotel rooms at lower prices. After this research, you have three to four options in mind, the best deals you picked out from the rest.
What next? Visit the websites of those hotels to get a clearer picture. You could also phone them directly and get the necessary information from the reservations manager or receptionist. Sine you are dealing direct, you would be able to get the best and lowest reservation prices.
You would be able to find those periods or days of the week when discounts are offered. You would be able to save more by booking a weekend package (rather then arriving midweek, when city hotels fill with business people). Bookings in off-season periods can also earn you special rates.
By talking to the reservations manager, you would also be able to gain a better idea about the rooms, its facilities, etc. Some rooms may have better views, whilst others will not. Some rooms may be big and some rooms may have double beds versus kings. Check into all these variations before making your booking.
When you are about to make the booking, pop the most important question: “What is your best rate?”. Try your best to get a good bargain. Also make use of any offers, coupons or loyalty cards, which may help further reduce the rates. After you agree with the rates, ask what the hotel’s terms and conditions, and cancellation policy are. If you are happy with it, make the booking over the phone and ask them to e-mail the directions (hotel brochure) along with the booking information.
What else? Simply start counting the days till you leave! Good Luck |
